7 Reasons Why Taking Piano Lessons Can Change Your Life

Oct 4 · 4 min read

Life is about making choices. Some decisions are easy, some are hard, and some can change your life forever. Choosing piano lessons as a child or adult is one such decision. It may not seem like much of an impact at the time, but it can actually change your life in many ways—for better! Here are seven reasons why taking piano lessons can be a great choice for you:

...
  1. It is always great to learn a new skill.

Learning how to play the piano can be an interesting and rewarding experience. You can learn how to read music, or you can learn by ear if that is more your style. Learning by ear is fun because it involves listening and playing at the same time, which will make it easier for you to understand what notes go together when creating your own songs or playing with other people.

It doesn’t matter if you are trying out piano lessons for the first time or have been taking them for some time now, there are many reasons why learning how to play this instrument can change your life in ways that will surprise you!

  1. You can learn to accompany yourself.

Another cool thing about learning to play the piano is that you can accompany yourself. This means you can play a song on piano, and sing at the same time. If you have ever tried this before, you know it’s super fun! It makes it feel like your voice sounds better when coming through the keys of your piano. And if there are other people singing with you, they will also feel more connected to their voice by being able to hear themselves in relation to what they are singing. Therefore, playing the piano while singing is one of the most fun experiences I have had in my life!

  1. You will start to develop new parts of your brain.
  • The brain is like a muscle, and like any muscle it can get stronger with exercise.
  • The brain has different regions that work together, as well as having the ability to change and adapt.
  • Playing music is unique because you must process auditory information and move your muscles at the perfect time. These two things require split second decision making and coordination of multiple areas in your brain simultaneously. This helps improve your overall mental processing speed, which can lead to better problem solving skills, improved memory recall and faster reaction times for other activities outside of playing piano too!

  1. When you learn to play music you might meet new people and maybe even perform in public
  • You might meet new people. Learning a musical instrument often means being part of a group of like-minded people, whether you’re in a class or simply practicing at home. This gives you the chance to make friends with other people who share your interests and goals—and there are plenty of benefits for doing so!
  • You will perform in public. As you become more accomplished on your chosen instrument, you may be encouraged by teachers, family members and friends to perform at recitals or concerts (or even just for fun!). While you may be nervous about being in front of an audience when starting out, most performers find that it gets easier over time once they practice enough to feel confident about what they can do on stage.

  1. Learning a new skill is something that will give you pride.

There are many reasons why it can be difficult to develop self-esteem as an adult, but one of the best ways to combat this issue is by learning something new and challenging. This can be anything from learning a language, taking up gardening or even teaching yourself how to sew! In this way, everyone has the opportunity for growth and success regardless of age or background. As you practice what you've learned and improve your skills over time, it will soon become clear just how much progress you have made in your chosen area of interest. If there's one thing that we all deserve when we're at our happiest, it's pride in ourselves for being capable human beings who can accomplish things on their own terms. 1. Playing the piano will boost your mood and make you feel better about yourself.

Playing the piano can help you relax and get your mind off of things.

It can also boost your mood, making you feel better about yourself.

If you are feeling down or sad, playing the piano will help you to focus and concentrate on something other than how bad it is outside.

It will also calm you down if someone has upset or hurt your feelings recently by making a rude comment or two (like the parents at my school!).

...
  1. You'll become more confident in your abilities to pick up things quickly and stick with them.

It can be hard to get started on something new, especially if you weren't raised in an environment where piano playing was the norm. However, there's a good chance that with enough practice, you could pick up this skill quickly and stick with it.

The idea of practicing something over and over again may seem like the most boring thing ever—especially when you're young! But imagine how great it would feel if you could play beautifully or quickly memorize songs without doing any work at all? The only way to get good at anything is by practicing it regularly and consistently—and don't worry: You won't have to do this forever.

As long as you put in some effort every day (even just 10 minutes), then your skills will improve quickly! I know from experience that learning how to play a song on the piano for the first time is exciting--but then getting better at playing that same song each time gets even more rewarding!
